Scotland - Report from Alcohol Focus Scotland

Alcohol Focus Scotland have released a report following their enquiry into the relationship between the Licensing Boards and the issue of public health.

The report concludes that the current system for licensing is too complex and difficult for local people to get involved in shaping Licensing Policy and decision making and queried the purpose of the current licensing legislation.

Alison Douglas the Chief Executive of Alcohol Focus Scotland said licensing is devolved to local boards so that decisions can better meet the needs of local communities. Unfortunately, too often people and communities affected by licensing decisions are unable to voice their opinions because of the complexity of the system.
